Former Revolution bar to revert to being The Railway
August 8, 2023 The landmark pub on the corner of Upper Richmond Road and Putney High Street is set to reopen this month with its original name. The Railway was built as a hotel in 1889 as the sign on the upper floor makes clear but most recently was Revolution, a vodka cocktail bar which closed this May. It has had a number of ownership changes including being run by Drummonds between 1986 and 1993. Wetherspoons then took it over but then sold the premises to Revolution Bars who relaunched it in December 2017 with a new name. New owners, Urban Pubs & Bars are planning a soft opening next week with a launch on Friday (8 September). The venue is claiming it is where The Police played their first live gig in 1977 and local bands are to be given the opportunity to play there every alternate Tuesday starting from 19 September. The pub will have a full menu including roasts on Sunday and there will be 50% off your food bill during September.
