Summer sales suggest home market recovery

An sharp increase in volume and indications that prices are recovering suggest that the worst may be over for the local property market.
Sales during July have been brisk and earlier in the Summer a property changed hands for the second highest price ever paid in the local area.
The average sale price for July was £457,241. This was well down on June which saw a house in Roedean Crescent, Roehampton changing hands for £5,700,000. Only one other property has ever sold for a higher price.
This provides a contrast with earlier in the year when a property in SW15 changed hands for under £90,000 for the first time since 2006.
The average property in London during July was £306,963 up by 1.6% over the previous month. This is the second month in a row that prices have risen. Compared with the same month last year prices in London are down by 10.2%
