Lee Roberts wants to hear your views on how to make SW15's streets safer
April 14, 2023 Lee Roberts, who is the Conservative Parliamentary spokesman for Putney, has launched a crime survey for the SW15 area. He is looking to find out residents’ views on how to make our streets safer and is particularly keen to hear about anything from places too dark to walk down safely at night, to anti-social behaviour hotspots. Mr Roberts said, “The more I meet Putney residents, the more they tell me about crime. It’s pretty shocking that crime has risen in every part of Putney since Sadiq Khan became Mayor. He is responsible for London policing, but crime in Putney is up by 27% since 2017 on his watch, even in some of our historically safer areas. Only tiny numbers of robberies, burglaries and car thefts in London were solved last year. Please give me your views and priorities to help me to push for a safer Putney!” You can complete the survey here. As the party’s Westminster spokesperson, he is positioned to challenge Fleur Anderson for the Putney constituency at the next General Election. The Labour MP is also focusing on the issue of crime and is holding a public meeting on the subject on Monday 17 April at 6.30pm, at the Platt Centre, 22 Felsham Road. She was prompted to organise the meeting after an increasing number of reports of vehicle thefts from her constituents.
