Range of organisations present to help people with their needs
October 6, 2023 Fleur Anderson MP for Putney has hosted another of her Resident Advice Days in Roehampton. These events bring together a range of organisations to support residents with housing, childcare and dealing with the rising cost of living. The Labour MP invited Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Roehampton Police, Wandsworth Children’s Services, Work Match, the Job Centre, Little Village and Roehampton Councillors Jenny Yates, Matthew Tiller and Graeme Henderson to offer residents advice. Over 40 families attended the Advice Morning in Roehampton. Residents discussed a wide array of issues, including housing, healthcare, education, and antisocial behaviour. Fleur Anderson MP, “I have found these Resident Advice Days extremely helpful in supporting residents directly – I am able to refer to residents to agencies like Citizen’s Advice Bureau or to Children’s Services, bringing together all the support residents need into one room. A huge thanks to all the organisations who attended. The next Advice Day will be held in West Putney and I’m looking forward to meeting more residents there.” Roehampton Councillor Jenny Yates said, “It is extremely helpful to have support services for residents all in one room, in the heart of Roehampton at the Alton Activity Centre. It makes a big difference to be able to bring advice and support directly to residents. A big thank you to all of the agencies and Orode Faka for hosting us at the Centre. We will be holding further Advice Days, but as your Councillors we are always available to support you, so do get in touch with us if you need support with local council issues such as housing repairs, rubbish collection and the cost of living crisis.”
Roehampton Police tweeted afterwards, “Thank you from Roehampton Safer Neighbourhood Team to everyone who came to speak to us at Fleur Anderson’s drop-in advice session yesterday on the Alton estate. Lots of valuable intel for our team and lovely to see and speak to residents in an informal setting.” Ms Andersson concluded, "It was brilliant that Roehampton Safer Neighbourhood Team were able to attend the Advice Day – it makes a huge difference to have friendly, recognisable officers on ours streets, who residents can stop to have a chat with.” Fleur Anderson and Roehampton’s Councillors encourage residents who were unable to attend the Advice Morning to get in touch with them directly via email and over the phone.
