Putney MP Switches on Queen Mary's Hospital Christmas Lights

Staff at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton welcomed Fleur Anderson who was switching on their Christmas lights this Friday 1 December.
The facility is run by St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for which the Putney MP did a fundraising 55-mile bike ride from London to Brighton earlier this year. Along with staff from St George’s Hospital Trust, over a million pounds were raised for Children’s Services.
She had visited the hospital in July to see the Enhanced Primary Care Hub and Diagnostic Centre and campaigned to save the Urgent Treatment Centre.
Volunteer pianist David, who plays piano for patients in the lobby of the hospital every Thursday morning, accompanied the celebrations with carols on the piano. When not playing in the reception area of the hospital, he is a UCLH hospitals volunteer who supports older patients living with dementia to access music.
Ms Anderson said, “I was delighted to congratulate the team at Queen Mary’s Hospital on a year of phenomenal dedication to their profession and their patients with a festive Christmas lights switch on. I know how much myself, friends and family rely on and truly value the excellent care provided by our local hospitals, and the staff deserve all the Christmas enjoyment and festivity they can get!
“It is always a privilege to get to see the phenomenal work our local health teams do when I visit our local hospitals. I know it was extremely hard work to reopen the Enhanced Care Hub and Diagnostic Centre and keep it open, and it is wonderful to see how well used it now is. It really is a vital service for Roehampton residents. I fully support increasing provision with a return to the element of a walk-in centre that there was previously.”
