A statement from Directors of Incipio Group who will operate the venue at Putney Exchange Shopping Centre
To address some of the rumours circulating, we’d like to be transparent about how we operate as a business and how The Palmhouse will run as a restaurant and bar.
The Palmhouse is a tailor made concept for Putney. Incipio Group prides itself on providing fashionable and out-of-the ordinary dining experiences. Although our operational hours run until 11pm, the atmosphere and ethos remains the same from day into evening, allowing us to be family friendly, welcoming kids of all ages.
Children’s menus, drinks and games will be available all day. After 5pm, we ask parents to keep an eye on toddlers/young children – but they are very much welcome and encouraged. As a young team ourselves, with young families and children, we are hugely excited about creating something for everyone - especially the little people in our lives.
Myths surrounding The Palmhouse may have surfaced in direct comparison with our sister sites, The Prince and Pergola. However, rest assured these are not comparable concepts and operate in a very different way. It is worth nothing that these venues hold an impeccable track record with local policing – in three years of trading, we have had just three reported incidents that required assistance from the emergency services.
We are an established operator who are committed to working with local residents to ensure that The Palmhouse will be a welcome addition to Putney Town Centre. The most comparable venue at Olympia is situated in close proximity to residential properties at the rear, but has operated without complaint since it opened. We will bring the same commitment to the management of the operation here at Putney. Locals are of course of upmost importance to us and we are striving to build a venue that the local community can be proud of, hence the locals are our customers.
We recently used our venue in Paddington to host a Young Enterprise day for local school children in the area. The kids came and listened to us all talk about our different departments and they left armed with useful information about potential careers within our industry. We hope to be able to run, and be more involved, in more community and youth focused initiatives such as this.
The proposed opening hours are midday until 11:30 pm; all licensable activities will cease 30 minutes before end of day closing time (11:00pm). This is a strict curfew that we stick to no matter what – we feel pretty parental about that. Sound levels will be meticulously monitored, we do sound checks every hour from 5pm and they are recorded by our SIA approved security team, and any music will cease when they license dictates. Trust us.- when the fun is over, it’s over! We are most definitely not a nightclub.
The Palmhouse will be fully enclosed and the structure has been carefully designed in alignment with a noise consultant and an architect with suitable materials to ensure that there will not be noise breakout to any of the adjacent residential properties which are over the high street. We must reiterate that The Palmhouse will NOT have any residents living beneath it. The only tenant beneath the venue would be H&M store.
In the ordinary course of events, we estimate that the venue will operate at approximately 70% capacity during peak and between 30-50% at other times. Given the high accessibility to public transport and operating hours, it is anticipated that the majority of visitors who do not live locally will arrive and depart using public transport, uber in some circumstances (the pick up spot will not happen near any residential)
Access to The Palmhouse will be through the Putney Exchange Shopping Centre. After the Exchange Centre closes, access will be limited to one access from the High Street adjacent to H&M. The proposal does not result in any queuing on the High Street. All guests/customers visiting, security and staff will be contained within the Putney Exchange Shopping Centre and not on the High Street or surrounding streets.
