The letter of support submitted to the planning department from Positively Putney
One of Positively Putney’s key objectives is to maximise Putney’s potential by working tirelessly to make it a vibrant and attractive place for those who work, live and visit. As part of our ethos we encourage and support proposals which drive visitors to the area which, in turn, boost the local economy.
Positively Putney supports the Putney Exchange Palmhouse application. We feel that the Palmhouse would complement the thriving night time economy in Putney, bringing something truly unique to the town centre.
We welcome the fact that Incipio’s Palmhouse concept has been designed specifically for the Putney audience and note that it should not be compared to their other venues.
We understand that the site will be managed appropriately to strike an acceptable balance between optimising the customer experience and protecting the amenity interest of local residents. The night-time businesses in Putney are already well managed through the Putney pubwatch scheme to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime, and would expect the Incipio team, in collaboration with existing Putney Exchange security staff, to form an integral part of this group.
The venue has a maximum capacity of 700, although it is rarely expected to trade at capacity, and the venue will close at 11.30 pm, earlier than many existing Putney establishments. In addition, all deliveries will be via the Putney Exchange service yard on Lacy Road so would not place any additional burden on traffic in and around Putney High Street.
Our experience is that the car park is underused and increasingly so and therefore we do not have concerns about the loss of parking.
We have consulted our businesses on this application, and they are all positive about the opportunities these proposals will bring.
Kind regards,
Toby Lewin-Lloyd, Chair
