Putney Methodist Church is hosting a free performance of a new contemporary dance work: 'A Time to Mourn, A Time to Dance’ .

It is a touring production by London-based Springs Dance Company, who have performed at the church several times previously.

Created after the pandemic, the performance was inspired by the experience of those who did not have the opportunity to grieve the loss of loved ones properly. The dancers aim to offer audiences an opportunity to reflect on grief, human connection, community and joy. It is ultimately a celebration of life.

The minister of the church, Rev'd Geoffrey Farrar, said, “All of us were so deeply affected by the experience of the pandemic, especially those who lost loved ones in such difficult times. We really hope that this performance without words will allow everyone to reflect on their own experiences of loss, perhaps inspiring them to connect better with their feelings and with those around them.”

Thanks to a grant, the Church has been able to offer the performance for free to anyone who would like to attend. It starts at 5:00 pm on Sunday, 20 October and lasts approximately an hour.
