Deputy Chairman Jonathan Callaway will talk about delivering ambulances
March 22, 2024 The forthcoming Annual General Meeting of the Putney Society will feature a report back from the society’s Deputy Chairman on his trip to Ukraine. Jonathan Callaway will give a talk entitled "Delivering Ambulances to Ukraine". This will cover his involvement with the charity Medical Life Lines Ukraine (MLLU) which organises convoys of refurbished ambulances filled with medical supplies. The talk will be illustrated with photographs taken during his trip driving one of these ambulances. The meeting is due to take place on Monday 25 March in the lower hall in The Community Church, Werter Road, SW15 2LL starting at 7.30pm. The meeting will also be live streamed so that you can listen to the speakers. but you will not be able to vote if you are online. If you wish to listen remotely then contact registration@putneysociety.org.uk . Once the formal section of the agenda is complete Mr Callaway will describe his experience with a team of eight volunteers including other Putney residents Gerry and Sally Strahan who drove ambulances stocked with urgently needed medical supplies to support hospitals and emergency teams on the ground. They were working with MLLU which was founded by Aliya Aralbayeva and supported by Dan Whitehead. The charity has delivered 33 aid-filled ambulances to war-torn areas of Ukraine since the war began in February 2022 and raised over £100,000 to continue to supply vehicles, equipment and aid to Ukrainian citizens.
