Local house prices remain at high level

Property sales in the SW15 post code area have continued to suggest that prices remain at historically high level.
According to the latest figures from the Land Registry, 68 properties change hands in the area during May at an average price of £543,871. This is down on the previous month but in line with levels seen in the first quarter of the year.
Of these sales, 7 were at £1,000,000 or higher. The most expensive property changing hands during the month was on Enmore Road costing its new owner £1,700,000.
The May data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price rise of 0.4% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £161,677.
London remains the best performing area in the country with prices rising by 7.7% to £365,359 over the same period.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during March 2012, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales increased by 25 per cent to 58,609 compared with 46,742 in March 2011.
The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in March 2012 decreased by 41 per cent to 501 from 845 in March 2011.
The numbers below are subject to revision as is it usual that some properties are added late to the Land Registry's database. The latest reported sales are given in the table below.
